How to Prepare for a Beach Photoshoot
So, you’re planning a beach photoshoot in Marbella — or maybe you’re still flirting with the idea but already stressing a little.
What do I even wear? Will my hair survive the wind? What if I get sand literally everywhere?
Take a deep breath. You’re not alone.
The good news? A beach photoshoot isn’t about looking perfect. It’s about feeling real. It’s supposed to be fun, a little messy, and full of the kind of moments you actually want to remember. Let’s break it down, step by step.
First Things First: Comfort Over Everything
You know what ruins a good photoshoot faster than bad weather? Being uncomfortable in what you’re wearing.
Pick clothes you can move in. Walk, twirl, sit in the sand, maybe even kick the waves a little. Flowing dresses, loose shirts, linen pants — these things photograph like magic on the beach. The goal? Feel like yourself, but maybe the slightly more polished, beachy version.
And if you’re wondering whether barefoot is acceptable? Absolutely. Some of my favorite family photoshoots in Marbella have ended with sandy toes and huge, real smiles.
What About Colors?
Good question. The beach already gives us a color palette of soft blues, neutrals, and warm sands. Stick with outfits that complement that.
Soft whites, muted blues, earthy tones, warm pastels — they all play really nicely with Marbella’s coastline. Super bright neon? Maybe leave it for another day. Same goes for loud logos or busy patterns that distract from you.

Timing Is Everything
Want that dreamy, sun-kissed glow you always see in photos? It’s all about the timing.
Golden hour — that perfect window right after sunrise or just before sunset — is pure magic. The light is soft, flattering, and it wraps everything in this kind of cinematic hug.
But — and here’s the human side of it — if you’ve got little kids who melt down after 7 p.m., don’t sweat it. I’d rather have happy, well-rested kids than a cranky crew during perfect lighting. We can work around your real life.
Hair, Makeup, and That Ocean Breeze
Beach photoshoots are not the time for super stiff hairstyles. The breeze is coming for you — might as well embrace it.
Think loose waves, messy buns, simple braids. It’s about movement, not perfection.
And makeup? Keep it fresh and light. A little extra powder (shine happens), waterproof mascara (because ocean mist is real), and you’re good to go. Nothing too heavy — you want to glow, not cake.
Kids, Chaos, and Rolling With It
If you’re planning a family photoshoot in Marbella, here’s your official permission slip: it’s okay if the kids get sandy, silly, or off-track.
Some of my favorite shots happen when a kid is half-drenched from the waves, or chasing seagulls, or sitting stubbornly in the sand refusing to move. Real is better than perfect. Always.
Bring a towel, a spare outfit, snacks (trust me on the snacks), and a sense of humor. We’ll turn whatever happens into magic.
Last Tiny Tip: Trust the Process
You might show up feeling awkward. Everyone does.
Five minutes in? You’ll be laughing. Twenty minutes in? You’ll forget the camera’s even there. That’s the beauty of working with a photographer who knows how to make it chill, easy, and 100% you.
