Let’s get one thing straight—a photoshoot with me is not a formal, stand-still-and-smile-like-you’re-at-a-school-picture-day kind of thing. Nope. Not happening.
It’s more like:
Me: “Okay, just walk naturally.”
Couple: Immediately forgets how to walk.
Me: “Alright, new plan. Pretend you’re tipsy on a honeymoon in Marbella, and you just found out you won the lottery.”
Couple: Laughs, relaxes, actually looks natural.

That’s the thing—most people think they need to “know how to pose” to get great photos. The reality? You don’t need to pose at all. You just need to exist, have fun, and let me handle the rest.
I swear, every single couple I’ve worked with has said some version of, “We’re so awkward in photos.” And I always just nod like, Sure you are. Because 10 minutes later? That awkwardness is gone. You’re laughing, moving, and actually having fun. I mean, unless you really want your photos to scream “help, I feel weird,” but I don’t think that’s the vibe we’re going for.

I’ll throw out some fun, casual prompts. Stuff like, “Walk towards me like you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop” or “Whisper the worst pickup line you can think of.” And suddenly, you’re laughing, the nerves disappear, and the most natural moments unfold.
And if you need to stand still for a second? We keep things loose. Maybe you lean into each other, maybe you just breathe for a second. But I promise, no too much of the awkward, mannequin-like posing is happening.

Like that one time a couple was trying to follow my cue to “walk naturally,” and one of them tripped over absolutely nothing. They laughed so hard, and I just kept clicking. Those ended up being some of their favorite photos.
Or the time a dog crashed a beach proposal session and just refused to leave. He sat right next to the couple like he was part of the whole event. And yes, they ended up framing that shot.
That’s why I keep things lighthearted. If the wind messes up your hair? Great, let’s roll with it. If you burst into laughter mid-shot? Even better. It’s the moments you don’t plan that make the best photos.
